Berkeley Art Center in conjunction with representatives from Bay Area galleries, colleges and arts organization will review artist work, offer feedback and answer questions about the professional art world. This is an amazing opportunity for both artists, and local curators and galleries to view and discover new emerging artists. Reviewers are TBD. $25 BAC Members/$35 Nonmembers

Women in Rock - From Psych to Punk

Rock historian Richie Unterberger will show and discuss film clips of Bay Area women rock and soul performers from the 1960s and 1970s. Included will be footage, not seen in previous lectures, of performers such as Grace Slick, Janis Joplin, We Five, Mimi Fariña, Lydia Pense with Cold Blood, the Ace of Cups, Mother Earth, It’s a Beautiful Day, the Pointer Sisters, the Tubes, and the Avengers. Unterberger is the author of numerous rock history books, including Unknown Legends of Rock'n'RollWhite Light/White Heat: The Velvet Underground Day-By-Day; and a history of 1960s folk-rock, Jingle Jangle Morning

Artists in Conversation with Larry Rinder

Meet the artists Leah Rosenberg and Jeremiah Jenkins as they discuss the intention and inspiration behind their Agility Projects installation.  The conversation will be led by Lawrence Rinder, Director and Chief Curator of BAMPFA.  Mr. Rinder has had a prominent career in both the curatorial and education-program sides of museums.  Previously as BAMPFA's MATRIX curator and Founding Director of CCA's Wattis Institute, he is well-versed in the emerging arts scene in the Bay Area and beyond.
