Four photographers will be selected by a panel including, Janet Delaney, Aimee Le Duc and Kira Lyons, to participate in the inaugural exhibition inspired by the Paul Sack Collection presented by Berkeley Art Center as part of the Agility Projects program.
Artists are encouraged to use The Paul Sack Collection as a jumping off point to consider the relationship architecture has with space, people, and the environment. Submit 5-10 work samples. $10 entry fee.
About the Paul Sack Collection: Stretching throughout the history of photography from 1840 to the present day, this vast and unique collection is generally based around the theme of architecture. Paul Sack, a long-time real estate investor located in San Francisco, built his collection under the auspice that each photograph include a building that could be somehow purchased. However, to limit the scope of this esteemed collection to this one concept would be to truly underestimate its breadth and myriad commentary on both the role of the built environment in the 175 years as well as the development of photography as an art form unto itself. Berkeley Art Center is proud to be entering into this partnership with Paul Sack and to give an opportunity for entirely new audiences to experience photography in a new way.
