Internationally acclaimed artist and Sacramento native Mel Ramos is the subject of a 50-year survey exhibition at the Crocker Art Museum. Best known for his paintings of superheroes and voluptuous female nudes emerging from cornstalks or Chiquita bananas, popping up from candy wrappers or lounging in martini glasses, Ramos is most often associated with the Pop Art movement of the 1960's, exhibiting his images of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman in shows alongside works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.
