Support Berkeley’s “Hidden Treasure”
November 2011
Called a hidden treasure by Chronicle art critic Kenneth Baker, the Berkeley Art Center is about to commemorate its 45th year. We have been thrilled to have had such great successes over the past couple years and know you appreciate the importance of our standing as a community art center. With a small staff and lean budget, Berkeley Art Center offers a changing array of top-notch, professionally presented art exhibitions, public programs, and special events each year. Recent exhibitions include a regional survey of printmakers curated by Enrique Chagoya, a Bay Area abstraction show organized by Peter Selz, and currently, Paper Quilt Project: Collaborations in Contemporary Craft in conjunction with Lena Wolff and Traywick Contemporary. Exciting programming includes artist panels and lectures by prominent artists including Michael C. McMillen, Chris Brown, Maria Porges, and Hung Liu; as well as programs for children and families related to current exhibitions.
Berkeley Art Center is a magnet for people working in all aspects of fine art: producing artists, gallery and museum workers, curators, collectors, and people who simply love interacting with and understanding other people’s creative output.
In an era of multi-million dollar fund drives and capital campaigns, Berkeley Art Center is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a modest goal of increasing contributions to our annual fund to support our delivery of more access opportunities for the community through community-based programs and events. Please consider supporting us! You can simply click DONATE or give us a call at 510.644.6893. We will be eternally grateful!
Thank you so much for your interest in the Berkeley Art Center. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, we deeply appreciate your continued support.
